About Volt Studio
From Makeup to the NPG studio
Before Northern Power Garms was even a thought, I was a makeup artist. My diary was a mix of weddings, teaching, and working on ecomm shoots. I loved the creative side, but I realised I loved the business side just as much. I was obsessed with doing my own marketing and building my brand.
Then, 2020 happened.
COVID hit and my entire industry vanished overnight. Weddings were off, teaching was cancelled, and the shoots stopped. With a toddler at home and a baby on the way, I had to pivot and fast.
The NPG journey
That pivot became Northern Power Garms. It started on my sofa in a Manchester. I fired up Instagram and started shipping tees and hoodies to a community that grew faster than I ever expected.
From those early days on the sofa to opening our physical shop in Halifax for two and a half years, I have learned exactly what it takes to build a brand from the ground up. Recently, we moved out of the high street and into our dedicated studio at Croft Myl. It allowed me to refocus on what really makes a brand tick: the systems behind the scenes.
Why I am starting Volt Studio
I realised that the parts of NPG I enjoyed most were the parts most founders dread. I love the technical side like the Shopify setups, the Klaviyo emails, and the logistics. I realised I could use everything I have learned to help other indie brands who are currently drowning in their own to-do lists.
I am starting Volt Studio because I have lived the struggle of balancing a growing business with a family. I am not just an assistant. I am a founder who understands the grit required to succeed. I am stepping in as your Brand Wingwoman to handle the heavy lifting so you can get back to the parts of your business you actually love.
Meet Jules
I am the person who actually enjoys the stuff most founders avoid. My background in service and e-commerce means I do not just see a task. I see a way to make your life easier and your business stronger.
Running Northern Power Garms taught me that you can have the best ideas in the world, but if your back-end is a mess, you will eventually burn out.
I started Volt Studio because I wanted to be the person I needed when I was starting out. I wanted someone who just gets it, takes the weight off your shoulders, and treats your brand with the same care as their own.
When I am not working on a Shopify store, you will probably find me at the studio in Croft Myl or chasing after the kids. I believe in working hard, but I also believe your business should give you the life you actually wanted when you started it. I am here to make sure your tech works as hard as you do.
